Last night, I left the safety of my crate at home and tumbled out into the bustling streets of downtown Milwaukee to see
Bon Iver (pronounced "Bohn ee-VARE) @ The Pabst (pronounced Pab-PSST).
Bon I-who? Never heard of em either. Turned out to be absolutely amazing. Cool night (about
60 degrees), cool show, uber hipster people watching - the trifecta of solid summer shows. Its been a while since I
went to a show based on buzz alone, without hearing a single note of the headliner. The last time I did that was in
2003 when we were invited to a Jack Johnson release party for his album On & On at The Bowery Ballroom in NYC (which is the greatest venue in the universe). Yeah, I'm name dropping. Hate the player, not the game?
Or is it game, then player? How does that go? Anyway, 2 PBR Tall Boys and 2 Maker's rocks later, I
sat mesmerized in the spaced out, minimal, atmospheric, indie awesomeness of Bon Iver. Its the kind of show where the
ice melts in your drink and you daydream, running random scenarios thru your head and when the show is over, you sincerely
feel like tonight is the night you're going home to start writing that novel.

ps: I went home, ate a Jimmy John's sub and watched the end of Fletch Lives, the
worst sequel in history. Not exactly the creative flourish I was hoping for.
